For growing businesses

Expense tracking for growing businesses, sliced the way you run it

Expense tracking for growing businesses means seeing the same spending more than one way — by project, client, department or any dimension you set up. 2Fin categorises every transaction automatically and keeps that flexibility built in from day one, so growth adds more views of the picture rather than losing it.

What Fin does for you

One set of transactions, sliced every way that matters

Lenses let you view the same categorised spending by project, client, department or cost centre — switch the view without re-entering a thing, and apply more than one at a time.

Deductions still surfaced automatically

Growth does not mean losing the automatic deduction detection you started with — every transaction is still scanned as spending scales up.

Numbers that hold up at handover

Hand your accountant a clean, categorised summary, or export the Accountant Ledger format built for exactly that handover, instead of a shoebox of receipts.

The asset register your accountant asks for at year end

Vehicles, fit-out, computers, the espresso machine — the first question at year end is “what did you buy or sell, and what is it written down to?” The register answers it: each asset linked to its bank transaction, method and effective life set, and a print-ready depreciation schedule with opening, decline, deductible and closing per asset.

Did you know?

Australia's GST has been frozen at 10% for over 25 years, partly because changing the rate legally requires the unanimous agreement of every state and territory plus both houses of federal Parliament.

Treasury states plainly that 'legislation requires that changes to the GST base or rate require unanimous agreement by all State and Territory governments, as well as both houses of the Australian Parliament' — a political straitjacket flowing from the 1999 Intergovernmental Agreement that has kept the rate untouched since 1 July 2000.

Gold creates a VAT split personality: investment-grade bars and coins of 99%+ purity are zero-rated, but the gold necklace next to them is taxed at the full 5% — including the jeweller's making charges.

Since Feb 2025 (Cabinet Decision 127 of 2024, effective 15 February 2025) a reverse-charge mechanism means VAT-registered businesses trading precious metals and stones don't charge each other VAT at the till; the buyer self-accounts in their return.

Growing businesses — common questions

Can I track spending by project or client separately?

Yes. Lenses let you view the same transactions by project, client, department or any dimension you define, with more than one lens applied at once.

Can multiple people log in to manage the books?

2Fin is built around a single account today — the person who owns the numbers. It is not a multi-seat team platform yet, so if a co-founder or bookkeeper needs their own separate login, keep that in mind for now.

Does this replace an accounting platform like Xero?

No — 2Fin focuses on expense intelligence: automatic categorisation, deduction surfacing and tax-ready reporting. If you need invoicing, payroll or a full ledger, pair it with your accounting platform; Destinations can push your categorised data into tools you already use.

What does my accountant actually want about assets at year end?

A list of what you bought, sold or scrapped during the year with dates and amounts, and the written-down value of what you still hold. The asset register keeps exactly that, and the depreciation schedule prints it per asset for the financial year — with the balancing adjustment shown for anything disposed of, left for your accountant to assess.

What happens when spending gets more complex?

The categorisation and deduction detection that worked on day one keep working as spending grows — Lenses give you more ways to view it without you doing more manual work. 2Fin helps you find and organise potential deductions; always confirm what applies to you with your accountant or tax authority.
