2Fin vs Quicken

AI2Fin vs Quicken — investments in the US, or money and tax in every country?

Quicken is one of the longest-running names in personal finance: Quicken Classic for Windows and Mac, with deep investment tracking and retirement planning on its Premier plan, and Quicken Simplifi on the web and mobile — all intended for subscribers in the US and Canada. 2Fin is a tax and money app that works in every country: budgets, savings goals and an Upcoming list of bills and money you are owed, free on every plan, plus deductions surfaced as they happen, GST or VAT per transaction and a live income-tax estimate in Australia, the UK, the US (one kind of income at a time), Canada and India.

Where AI2Fin takes a different approach

Built differently where it counts — here is how.

Beyond the US and Canada

Quicken’s products are designed for the US and Canada. 2Fin works in every country, with GST, VAT or sales tax on record for each and totals kept per currency.

The tax side, built in

Each transaction is tagged business, work-related or personal as it arrives, deductions are surfaced through the year, and a live estimate shows your refund or what you owe. 2Fin helps you find and organise potential deductions; always confirm eligibility with your accountant or tax authority.

Budgets, free

A limit per category, savings goals and an Upcoming list of bills and money you are owed — on the free plan, with forecasts on ELITE+.

Your records in ChatGPT and Claude

Ask about your money through 2Fin’s MCP server, with the access you approve on the consent screen.

The same situation, in both

A sole trader in Australia choosing between them

You freelance in Sydney, mix work and personal spending on one card, and want your deductions sorted by tax time.

In Quicken

Quicken says its products are not designed to function outside the US and Canada, so its bank connections, tax reports and categories are built for those two countries.

In 2Fin

Every transaction is tagged business, work-related or personal with its GST, deductions build up through the year, the BAS is prepared on ELITE+ and the refund estimate includes the Medicare levy and HELP — and the same account keeps working if you move to the UK or Canada.

AI2Fin vs Quicken — common questions

Is Quicken available in Australia?

Quicken’s current products are intended for subscribers in the US and Canada, and Quicken says they are not designed to function outside those two countries. 2Fin works in every country, Australia included, with the GST, BAS and deductions an Australian employee or sole trader needs.

Does 2Fin track investments like Quicken?

Not yet. 2Fin is an everyday-money and tax app: budgets, savings goals, bills, cash flow and property are tracked, and the asset register works out depreciation on each country’s rules, but it does not track share, ETF or crypto holdings, dividends or cost base. If your portfolio matters most, Quicken (in the US or Canada) or a portfolio tracker such as Sharesight sits well alongside 2Fin.

Can I bring my Quicken history into 2Fin?

Yes. 2Fin imports QIF, OFX and QFX files, the formats Quicken and most banks export, as well as CSV, Excel and PDF statements, so your past transactions can come with you and be sorted on the way in.
