SimpleFIN Bridge: read-only bank feeds into 2Fin
SimpleFIN Bridge is a small paid service that connects to your bank and shares the transactions, read-only, with the apps you choose. Connect it to 2Fin and every purchase arrives sorted, with its tax treatment, ready for tax time.
- Your bankwhere you already bank
- SimpleFIN Bridgeread-only, yours to revoke
- 2Finsorted, with its tax
What SimpleFIN Bridge is
SimpleFIN is an open protocol for sharing bank data read-only, and the Bridge is SimpleFIN’s own service that does the connecting. You open the account and link your banks; each app you approve gets its own access, which you can take away at any time. Nothing an app does through the Bridge can move money.

How to connect SimpleFIN Bridge to 2Fin
Open a SimpleFIN Bridge account
Sign up at SimpleFIN Bridge and link the banks you want to share. The Bridge is run by SimpleFIN, not by 2Fin, and you pay them directly.
Create a setup token for 2Fin
In the Bridge, add a new app connection. It gives you a one-time setup token: a long line of text you copy once.
Paste it into 2Fin
In 2Fin, under “Connect a bank you set up yourself”, choose SimpleFIN and paste the token. Fin reads your accounts straight away, so you see them listed before you leave the screen.
Let the first sync run
The first read asks for up to 400 days of history, so last year’s spending is there for tax time where your bank provides it. After that, each sync brings in what is new.
What Fin does with each transaction
- Fin categorises each transaction and tags it work-related, business or private.
- Each line gets its tax treatment: GST, GST-free, input taxed or BAS excluded.
- Deductions surface as they land, and the refund estimate moves with them.
- Repeating bills and pay are found and scheduled on your Upcoming list.
- A row that looks like one you already have goes to a review tray instead of being counted twice.
- Pending card payments wait until they post, because a pending amount can still change.
Live feeds from a bank-feed account you hold are on the free plan. The same transactions feed Upcoming, the tax treatment on each line, and, if you want your records on your own computer, the Windows app.
Read-only by design. The Bridge shares transactions and balances. Nothing that comes through it can move money.
Token used once. 2Fin keeps only the access link the Bridge returns, encrypted, and never sends it back to your browser.

Questions about SimpleFIN Bridge and 2Fin
- What is SimpleFIN Bridge?
- SimpleFIN Bridge is a service run by SimpleFIN that connects to your bank accounts and shares the transactions with apps you choose. You hold the account, you choose which apps get access, and the access is read-only: an app can see transactions and balances, and it cannot move money.
- How much does SimpleFIN Bridge cost?
- SimpleFIN lists US$1.50 plus tax a month, or US$15 plus tax a year, for up to 25 institutions and 25 apps (checked October 2026). You pay SimpleFIN for the Bridge. Connecting it to 2Fin is included on the free plan.
- Which banks does SimpleFIN Bridge support?
- SimpleFIN keeps its own list of supported institutions on the Bridge site, and it changes as banks are added. Check it for your bank before you sign up. If your bank is not on it, 2Fin also takes CSV, Excel, PDF and OFX statements, a Google Sheet feed, or a BankSync account.
- What does 2Fin keep, and can I disconnect?
- The setup token is spent at the Bridge and not kept. What 2Fin stores is the read-only access link the Bridge returns, encrypted, and it is never sent back to your browser. To disconnect, remove 2Fin from your apps in SimpleFIN Bridge; the transactions already imported stay in 2Fin until you delete them.
- Does it work in the 2Fin desktop app?
- Yes. In the Windows app the fetch runs on your own computer, so your bank data goes from the Bridge to your machine. In the web app it runs on 2Fin’s servers, like the rest of the hosted service.
