AI2Fin vs Reckon One
Reckon One is a full Australian accounting package: invoice clients, pay staff, report through Single Touch Payroll. AI2Fin does none of those and is not trying to. It takes the other half of the job — understanding what you already spent, what it means for GST and BAS, and which deductions you are sitting on.
Where AI2Fin takes a different approach
Not better in every way for every user — but meaningfully different where it counts.
Deductions surfaced through the year, not found in June
Reckon One records what you enter. AI2Fin reads transactions as they arrive and flags what looks deductible while you can still do something about it. AI2Fin helps you find and organise potential deductions; always confirm eligibility with your accountant or tax authority.
No data entry to keep up with
Categorisation happens automatically and improves each time you correct it. Photograph a receipt and the total, merchant and date are read off it and matched to the transaction.
Your records can stay on your machine
Reckon One is hosted, so your books live on their servers. AI2Fin also ships as a desktop app where the database and receipts are files in a folder you own, with an outbound record of everything that left.
Ask it questions
Ask what you spent on subcontractors this quarter, or how this year compares with last, and get an answer rather than a report to interpret.
Feature by feature
Reckon One is sold in modules, so the price depends on which you enable — check reckon.com for current figures. AI2Fin starts free, with tax treatment and reporting on Premium (US$23/month).

ENTERPRISE
Enterprise-grade data control is the default here — on every plan.
Your records can stay on your own machine or in your own cloud, telemetry stays off unless you turn it on, and Fin keeps an auditable record of everything it sends. Enterprise adds the people and the paperwork: dedicated support, custom deployment and reviews for large-scale operations.
Verify it yourselfAI2Fin vs Reckon One — common questions
Can AI2Fin replace Reckon One?
Only if you do not invoice through software and do not run payroll. Reckon One does both and AI2Fin does neither. If your business is you, a bank account and a pile of expenses, AI2Fin covers that end far more thoroughly — if you employ people, keep Reckon One.
Does AI2Fin handle GST and BAS?
Yes. GST treatment is worked out per transaction and the BAS figures are calculated from your own records, with the workings shown so you can check them. AI2Fin helps you find and organise potential deductions; always confirm eligibility with your accountant or tax authority.
Can I use both together?
Plenty of people do — Reckon One for invoicing and payroll, AI2Fin for expense intelligence and deduction surfacing, with figures exported across at tax time.
Does AI2Fin do double-entry accounting?
Not as the way you enter things — Reckon One is a full double-entry package and AI2Fin is not trying to be one. It records transactions the way a bank statement reads, then exports a balanced double-entry journal for your accountant: both accounts named, GST split out, debits equal to credits. What it does not do is the rest of what a full package does, which is invoicing, payroll and everything built on top of the ledger.
