BankBridge and 2Fin: live bank answers, sorted for tax

What BankBridge is
BankBridge is a hosted MCP server for personal bank, card and brokerage data. You connect your bank once through a bank sign-in, and your assistant gets read-only tools for balances, transactions, subscriptions and cash flow. Each question reads your bank at that moment, and nothing it can do moves money.

How to use BankBridge and 2Fin in one assistant
Add BankBridge to your assistant
Follow BankBridge’s setup guide for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another assistant, then sign in and connect your US bank. BankBridge is run by Great Work LLC, not by 2Fin, and you pay it directly.
Add 2Fin to the same assistant
Connect 2Fin’s MCP server the way you connected BankBridge. Its consent screen names every permission it asks for, so you approve exactly what the assistant can see.
Ask across both
Ask what is in your accounts right now, then ask what in your records is work-related, what GST, VAT or sales tax each line carries, or where your refund estimate stands.
Keep the records in 2Fin
For your US bank transactions to arrive in 2Fin itself, sorted and tagged as they land, connect a SimpleFIN Bridge feed. Then the records, the receipts and the refund estimate sit in one place through the year.
The SimpleFIN steps are on the SimpleFIN Bridge page, and the MCP server is described for developers on the developers page.
What each one does in your assistant
BankBridge answers what is in your US accounts right now. 2Fin answers what the records mean: which spending is work-related, what tax each line carries and where the year is heading.
BankBridge
- Reads your US bank live when you ask a question.
- Stores no balances, transactions or holdings: each answer comes from the bank at that moment.
- Works in the assistants you already use.
2Fin
- Keeps your records through the year, with receipts matched.
- Tags each line work-related, business or private, with its tax treatment.
- Shows a live refund estimate, and answers questions about it in your assistant.
You approve each connection. BankBridge asks for its own sign-in, and 2Fin’s consent screen names every permission, including any access to change your records, before the assistant sees anything.

Questions about BankBridge and 2Fin
- What is BankBridge?
- BankBridge is a hosted, read-only MCP server that lets Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants read your US bank, card and brokerage accounts. Each question is answered from your bank at that moment, and BankBridge says it does not store balances, transactions or holdings. It is run by Great Work LLC, not by 2Fin.
- How much does BankBridge cost?
- BankBridge lists US$5 a month or US$50 a year for each connected bank, with no free plan and a demo that opens sample data without signup (checked November 2026). You pay BankBridge directly. Connecting 2Fin’s MCP server to the same assistant is a separate step.
- Can I use BankBridge and 2Fin in the same assistant?
- Yes. Both are MCP servers, so an assistant that supports connectors can hold both at once: BankBridge for what is in your US accounts right now, and 2Fin for your sorted records, the tax treatment on each line and your refund estimate. Each connection asks for its own approval.
- How do I get US bank transactions into 2Fin?
- Connect a SimpleFIN Bridge feed. It shares your US or Canadian bank’s transactions read-only, and 2Fin sorts each one as it arrives. BankBridge is a separate way to ask questions about the same accounts in your assistant, and the two can run side by side.
- Which banks does BankBridge cover?
- BankBridge lists more than 12,000 US banks, credit unions, card issuers and brokerages, with up to 24 months of history, and covers US institutions today. Banking somewhere else? 2Fin takes CSV, Excel, PDF and OFX statements, a Google Sheet feed or a BankSync account, and in the desktop app Akahu, Up Bank, Monzo and Starling.
